The decision was made by German Minister of Culture Wolfram Weimer, who has banned the use of woke-inclusive language in official communications from his ministry.

 
 

The Minister of Culture bans woke language

The regulation requires the approximately 470 employees of the ministry, with offices in Berlin and Bonn, to abandon forms such as asterisks, internal capitals, schwa, or colons, and instead adopt standard German, according to the guidelines of the German Spelling Council.

A return to a communication model that prioritizes clarity and unity, based on the belief that language should unite rather than divide.

Weimer, who described woke-inclusive language as a forcing that does not reflect the natural way most people speak, also extends his call to museums, foundations, and public media, emphasizing a “shared responsibility” to maintain a communication code accessible to all citizens.

A stance that fits within a broader framework, already outlined by some Länder such as Bavaria and Saxony, which in recent years have banned the use of such gender markers in schools and public administration.

A few weeks ago, also in Germany, it was the current Minister for Education and Family, Karin Prien, who banned her officials from using gender asterisks, commonly employed in the (supposedly) inclusive language introduced by woke culture.

In Germany, signs are beginning to add up pointing to a real shift in ideological direction.

Consider, for instance, the decision of Chancellor Friedrich Merz to ban the LGBT+ flag from the Parliament façade and the withdrawal of jurist Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf from running for a seat as Constitutional Court judge due to the intense controversy sparked by her strongly progressive ethical views.
