The young actor Michael Iskander played the biblical King David in the Amazon Prime series “The House of David”. On August 21, he announced his Catholic conversion.
Michael Iskander, an emerging face of the new biblical hit on Prime Video, has become Catholic.
He revealed it himself on August 21, 2025 via Instagram: “Today is a very special day that, in hindsight, has long been in preparation. I have entered the Catholic faith. This is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of the path. Please, pray for me as I continue my walk with God.”
A few days ago, a similar announcement appeared on X from Kevin Lara, a young Venezuelan evangelical transformed by reading the Church Fathers.
This phenomenon of constant conversions to Catholicism has understandably alarmed the Calvinist magazine American Reformer.
The actor from “The House of David” becomes Catholic
A few days ago, the young Egyptian Michael Iskander, 23 years old, of Coptic Orthodox faith and known to many for playing the biblical King David in the American series “The House of David”, also joined the list.

In an interview, he recounted how his initial refusal of the audition turned into an opportunity for spiritual growth.
His mother encouraged him to fast and pray to offer the Lord the suffering of not being able to reach his dream, and when he finally got the part two months later, he realized that “sometimes God speaks with the softest voice… and it’s the one that tells you: hold on.”
In another statement, he said that the TV series should have been called, in his opinion, “The House of the Lord” and not “The House of David”, because everything “is about Him,” he said. “David’s heart was turned to the Lord, and that’s what I try to find in every scene, in every moment, where the Lord is and where the Holy Spirit can be found.”
The biblical series “The House of David” on Amazon Prime
“The House of David” (originally “House of David”) is a production of Wonder Project studio and premiered on February 27, 2025, on Prime Video. The first season – aired in episodes until April 3 – captured 22 million viewers in the first 17 days.
The settings were filmed between Greece and Canada, and the combined use of traditional special effects and artificial intelligence contributed to the series’ high visual quality.
Thanks to the positive reception, Amazon confirmed the second season, already in production, expected in mid-2026.
Another project also deserves mention, again on Prime Video, in the line of biblical narratives.
In collaboration with the creator of “The Chosen”, Amazon is producing a series dedicated to the life of Joseph in Egypt, with 8 episodes currently being filmed in New Mexico, although the release date has not yet been set.
