The most authoritative Medical Society is taking a stand against the \u201charmful\u201d gender therapy<\/strong>, stating that it \u201cthreatens real, biological sex\u201d by replacing it with \u201can inconsistent<\/strong> perception of gender.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Progress is also being made in Argentina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After the government banned the dangerous practices of (pseudo)gender-affirming therapy<\/strong> last February, the Academia Nacional de Medicina<\/mark><\/b> of Buenos Aires has finally taken a position.<\/p>\n

The main and oldest medical academy in Argentina has released a statement<\/a><\/em><\/strong> firmly opposing medical and surgical treatments for gender transition<\/strong> in minors under 18.<\/p>\n

The Academia Nacional de Medicina against gender treatments<\/h2>\n

The institution officially declared that it \u201cdoes not endorse<\/strong> any treatment\u201d<\/i> aimed at modifying biological sex in children and adolescents, including hormone therapies, puberty blockers<\/strong>, or surgical procedures.<\/p>\n

Argentine physicians justified their stance on ethical and scientific grounds, speaking explicitly of the \u201cdeleterious consequences<\/strong>\u201d<\/i> of these treatments on physical health, \u201coften irreversible,\u201d<\/i> as well as psychological well-being.<\/p>\n

The Academy also stated that, contrary to what gender studies<\/i> claim, there are no \u201cverified scientific truths\u201d<\/i>, noting that affirmative medicine<\/strong> has been abolished in several Western countries where it was once promoted.<\/p>\n

These include Finland<\/strong>, Sweden<\/strong>, Norway<\/strong>, England<\/strong>, the Netherlands<\/strong>, and several U.S. states.<\/p>\n

\u201cSex is real, gender is incoherent perception\u201d<\/h2>\n

However, the strongest<\/strong> and most unexpected statement is yet to come.<\/p>\n

These practices, the statement continues, \u201cconstitute an insubstantial promise<\/strong> that endangers real sex, the biological one, attempting to replace it with an incoherent<\/strong> sociological and voluntaristic perception of gender.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

A clear declaration that radically denies the actual existence of \u2018gender\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The alternative proposed for minors affected by gender dysphoria is a holistic and comprehensive approach<\/strong>, not strictly medical. Families must be involved first and foremost, along with \u201cmental health services.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Scientific institutions against gender therapy<\/h2>\n

The Academia Nacional de Medicina<\/strong> is only the latest in a long list of scientific societies to take such a position.<\/p>\n

Since 2023, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists<\/strong> (RANZCP) has begun<\/a><\/em><\/strong> favoring psychological intervention over hormonal and surgical treatments due to the limited evidence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Evidence already highlighted<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in 2024 even by the WHO, and in 2021 by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality<\/b>, which acknowledged<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the lack of \u201cupdated, evidence-based guidelines for the care of transgender children, particularly regarding the benefits and risks of puberty suppression, medical affirmation through hormone therapy, and surgical affirmation.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

In 2024, the UK National Health Service<\/b> (NHS) decided<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to ban puberty blockers for children suffering from gender dysphoria, while the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence<\/b> (NICE) denied<\/a><\/em><\/strong> their clinical effectiveness.<\/p>\n

In Finland, the Council for Choices in Health Care<\/strong> has since 2020 adopted<\/a><\/em><\/strong> psychotherapeutic treatment<\/strong> for these young people, heavily restricting puberty suppression and banning surgical procedures.<\/p>\n

The European Confederation of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry<\/strong> published a statement<\/a><\/em><\/strong> in 2024 on gender dysphoria, urging healthcare providers to \u201cnot promote experimental and unnecessarily invasive treatments with unproven psychosocial effects<\/strong>,\u201d<\/i> reiterating \u201cthe low reliability and instability of a gender dysphoria diagnosis.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

The American College of Pediatricians<\/b> (ACPeds) in 2018 concluded<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that:<\/p>\n
