The <strong>structure of the universe<\/strong>, he explains, strongly invites reflection on a reality that goes beyond pure matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has been retired for two years and now devotes himself to prolific online science outreach, publishing two videos a week on his channel <strong><i>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCxXmS6BkfhCALrPyCJKmPyg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grenzen des Wissens<\/a>&#8220;<\/i><\/strong>: one on astrophysics, the other on energy and climate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Climatology and alarmism<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On this latter topic, he criticizes current <strong>climatology<\/strong> as being <i>\u201ccharacterized by dogmatism and alarmism\u201d<\/i>, and is in turn accused of denialism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, he stands his ground: <i>\u201cThe greenhouse effect exists, caused by CO\u2082 and the burning of coal, gas, and oil,\u201d<\/i> he stresses, <i>\u201cand there is <strong>global warming<\/strong> caused by humans, no doubt. But the media and climate activists are turning it into <strong>hysteria<\/strong>.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>\u201cWe are not doomed,\u201d<\/i> he says. <i>\u201cHumanity <strong>will not go extinct<\/strong> because of climate change.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cI no longer believe in a materialistic universe\u201d<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His other major interest is <strong>astrophysics<\/strong> and what he calls the \u201climits of knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his latest book, <i>&#8220;The Enigmatic Fabric of Our Reality and the Limits of Physics&#8221;<\/i>, Gantef\u00f6r explains why he <strong>no longer believes<\/strong> in a materialistic universe \u2013 that is, a worldview in which the universe resembles a gigantic machine whose gears, in the form of natural laws, control the course of <strong>determined processes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gerd Gantef\u00f6r<\/strong> points out that although physics is effective at describing laws and constants, it cannot explain the <strong>ultimate \u201cwhy\u201d<\/strong>: why is the speed of light exactly 300,000 km\/s? Why are physical parameters such that life becomes possible?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The reflections in his videos, followed by about <strong>125,000 people<\/strong>, cover some of the most debated topics in modern cosmology: the apparent \u201cfine-tuning\u201d of the universe, the multitude of natural constants that allow the existence of complex systems, and the nature of information as a constitutive element of reality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From here, the renowned physicist draws a conclusion: <i>\u201cThe deepest level of our existence contains <strong>a metaphysical, spiritual level<\/strong>. It is simply not purely material.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is convinced that the <strong>materialistic worldview<\/strong> has long been shaped by an atheist perspective, to the point that in one YouTube video he targets <strong>Richard Dawkins<\/strong>, author of <i>&#8220;The God Delusion&#8221;<\/i>, stating that Dawkins does not argue as a natural scientist but as an ideological activist.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>An universe designed precisely for life<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another surprising discovery made the physicist think.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>\u201cThe universe seems <strong>made specifically for life<\/strong>,\u201d<\/i> says Gantef\u00f6r. <i>\u201cIf the fundamental constants and the laws of nature were even slightly different, our universe would appear completely different, and we would not exist. If it were one or two parameters, we could dismiss it as mere chance. But there are <strong>50 to 100<\/strong> of them! That really makes you think.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another of his videos, he reflects on <strong>Darwinism and Christianity<\/strong> with these words: <i>\u201cGrace is a Christian concept. Christianity is the overcoming of Darwinism. I would not want to live in a world where Darwinism prevails.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He discussed this <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=z1VeYKzR2Rk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in conversation<\/a><\/em><\/strong> with a colleague, <strong>Ralf B.
