New appointment with the column on pro-life victories obtained against the throwaway culture<\/strong>, relating to the period between June and September 2025<\/b><\/i>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n New episode of our column dedicated to the most significant pro-life and pro-family successes<\/mark><\/b> at the global level.<\/p>\n A moment that offers a sign of hope<\/strong> for those who work for life and family, showing concretely the value of their efforts.<\/p>\n Especially in a context where many major media tend to omit these news<\/strong> or tell them in a partial and slanted way.<\/p>\n Periodically, we propose a summary of the most relevant developments in the fight against the so-called “throwaway culture<\/strong>” (Pope Francis) and in favor of the “non-negotiable values<\/strong>” (Benedict XVI), including topics related to ethics, life, family and religious freedom.<\/p>\n Below<\/strong> we report the main news<\/strong> relating to the period from June to September 2025<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The University of Pennsylvania has cancelled<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the records set by transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, apologizing to the athletes “disadvantaged” by her participation in women’s competitions. It also established that it will not allow men<\/strong> to compete in women’s sports and that it will adopt male and female definitions “based on biology”.<\/p>\n The university’s School of Medicine<\/strong> announced<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that the institute’s medical faculty will no longer perform sex-change procedures on minors affected by gender dysphoria.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The Children’s National Hospital<\/strong>, the state’s main hospital, stops<\/a><\/em><\/strong> prescribing puberty blockers<\/strong> and hormones to children affected by gender dysphoria.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Karla Edith Trigueros<\/strong>, has banned<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the use of “woke language”<\/strong> (or “inclusive”) in public educational centers and offices. The provision establishes that terms such as “amigue”, “compa\u00f1ere”, “ni\u00f1e”, “todxs”, “todes”, “alumn@”, “j\u00f3venxs”, “nosotres” nor other linguistic distortions related to gender ideology are allowed. According to the text, the purpose is to consolidate \u00aba clear, coherent and respectful institutional communication\u00bb<\/i> rejecting \u00abideological or globalist interferences\u00bb<\/i>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/p>\n Governor Jim Pillen<\/strong> has signed<\/a><\/em><\/strong> a bill (LB 89) that requires athletes to compete on sports teams that reflect their biological sex<\/strong> rather than their declared gender identity. The law was signed together with the athletes harmed by having suffered unfair sports competition with transgender men.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n Quebec’s Minister of Public Security, Fran\u00e7ois Bonnardel<\/strong>, announced<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that detainees with a confused gender identity will be sent to prison facilities based on their biological sex<\/strong> and no longer based on the gender with which they identify.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n With 77 votes in favor and 18 against a law is definitively<\/a><\/em><\/strong> approved that makes anyone who facilitates a chemical abortion<\/strong> liable to civil lawsuits, further suppressing efforts to violate the law that prohibits pregnancy termination except in cases of grave necessity to prevent the mother’s death.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The new law prohibits<\/a><\/em><\/strong> healthcare providers from prescribing puberty blockers<\/strong> and hormone therapy to persons under 18 years of age when such drugs are used by transgender youth as part of a gender transition.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The French Haute Autorit\u00e9 de sant\u00e9<\/strong> (HAS) refuses<\/a><\/em><\/strong> to pronounce on minors who wish to undertake a gender transition, recognizing wide controversies<\/strong> about the advisability of hormonal treatment aimed at delaying puberty.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n UChicago Medicine<\/strong>, Chicago’s main hospital, announced<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the suspension of gender-affirming medicine<\/strong> procedures for transgender minors.<\/p>\n The hospital of the University of Illinois<\/strong> (UI Health) followed<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the same decision, in turn followed<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Advocate Health Care<\/strong>, a hospital system that manages 11 hospitals and 200 facilities across the state.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n A federal appeals court has upheld<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the near-total abortion ban<\/strong>, including restrictions on the abortion drug mifepristone.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n A federal appeals court sided with<\/a><\/em><\/strong> a Christian mom<\/strong>, Jessica Bates, who was excluded from a state adoption program because of her critical view of gender identity, including disagreement with accepting children’s “preferred pronouns”, taking them to LGBTQ+ Pride events, or to clinics for gender transition procedures.<\/li>\n<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n Parliament rejected<\/a><\/em><\/strong> a motion urging the government to promote the recognition of abortion as a human right<\/strong> at the European and international level. The initiative was supported by several parliamentary groups but failed to reach the necessary majority (68 seats out of 150).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/p>\n The Children’s Hospital of Richmond<\/strong> at Virginia Commonwealth University has stopped<\/a><\/em><\/strong> providing surgeries and and puberty-blocking medications to individuals with gender dysphoria<\/strong> under the age of 19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n Planned Parenthood<\/strong> has announced<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the closure<\/strong> of two of its six centers in the Houston area, Texas, including the Prevention Park site, known as the largest abortion facility in the Western Hemisphere.<\/p>\n Another law passed<\/a><\/em><\/strong> with 86 votes in favor and 45 against requires citizens to use restrooms and private spaces in government buildings based on biological sex<\/strong> and forces prisons and and family shelters to keep spaces separated by biological sex.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The medical centers of Yale Medicine<\/strong> and Yale New Haven Hospital<\/strong> eliminate<\/a><\/em><\/strong> “transition” procedures<\/strong> for minors by stopping gender-affirming pharmacological treatment for patients under the age of 19 (Yale’s program already did not include “surgical interventions”).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/p>\n As reported on UCCR<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, with 90 votes in favor out of 150 the parliament approves an amendment to the Constitution recognizing only two sexes<\/strong>, male and female biologically determined, bans surrogacy, restricts adoption to married couples who guarantee sexual difference and provides access only in “serious” cases for the so-called “gender medicine”.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The largest American “clinic” for transgender minors, the Center for Transyouth Health and Development<\/strong> (CTH) of the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, has stopped<\/a><\/em><\/strong> administering its experimental treatments, including puberty-blocking medications<\/strong> and surgeries. The center has closed.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The Court of Appeal<\/strong> has confirmed<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that the State may protect minors affected by gender dysphoria<\/strong> from “transition” interventions that permanently harm them. Therefore the state law prohibiting healthcare providers from offering gender transition procedures to anyone under eighteen remains valid.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n A federal court<\/strong> has upheld<\/a><\/em><\/strong> the state law that prohibits biologically male students<\/strong> from using women’s restrooms and locker rooms in public schools.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The parliament reaffirms<\/a><\/em><\/strong> one of the most ambitious pro-life legal frameworks in the world. With an overwhelming vote of 159 to 4, legislators approved a new Penal Code that leaves the constitutional ban on abortion<\/strong> intact. President Luis Abinader signed the bill on August 3.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n A federal appeals court<\/strong> rules<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that the state may ban “gender transition”<\/strong> procedures for minors with gender dysphoria, overturning the lower court decision that had prevented the law from taking effect.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n A federal judge<\/strong> strikes down<\/a><\/em><\/strong> a law that excluded private schools and universities from state funding solely because they were religiously affiliated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n One of the state’s largest healthcare providers, Corewell Health<\/strong> announced<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that it will no longer perform “gender-affirming care”<\/strong> on minors with gender dysphoria.<\/p>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n <\/p>\n The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee<\/strong> (USOPC) has banned<\/a><\/em><\/strong> men from participating in women’s sports in compliance with President Donald Trump’s executive order.<\/p>\n
