The surprise is great when the source is revealed.<\/i><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>YouTube<\/strong> is full of <strong>social experiments<\/strong> of all kinds, but this one is unprecedented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <strong>video<\/strong> we show you (translated by us into Italian), some <strong>Jews and rabbis<\/strong> were invited to read a series of passages from the <strong>Old Testament<\/strong> speaking of a <strong>Messiah<\/strong>, a child who will be born, and the passion he must endure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What makes the experiment particularly intriguing is that the participants <strong>were not told the origin of the texts<\/strong> and were asked to guess from which source they came.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Jews see Jesus in the Old Testament<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Interviewed Jews and rabbis reacted spontaneously and honestly, confidently identifying the passages as <strong>coming from the Gospels<\/strong> and referring to Jesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Too bad these were excerpts taken from the Old Testament, written <strong>700 years before Christ<\/strong>, which many Christians consider prophecies about the Nazarene.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Watch the video<\/strong> published on our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@UCCR_online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube channel<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ClFA4AU7dH8?si=bH_e93RuQJoKd8EZ\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For example, they were read the passage from <strong>Isaiah 53<\/strong>, where the prophet speaks of a <strong>Messiah<\/strong> who died for <i>\u201cthe iniquity of us all\u201d<\/i>, who <i>\u201cwas mistreated, <strong>let himself be humiliated<\/strong>, like a lamb led to the slaughter, like a mute sheep before its shearers, <strong>he<\/strong> did not open his mouth\u201d<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even more specifically, the biblical passage speaks of the <strong>arrest<\/strong> and <strong>condemnation<\/strong> of this individual, after which <i>\u201che was taken away\u201d<\/i> and <i>\u201cthey assigned him a <strong>burial<\/strong> among the wicked\u201d<\/i>. But he, Isaiah writes, <i>\u201cwill see a <strong>offspring<\/strong>, prolong his days, and <strong>the work of the Lord<\/strong> will prosper in his hands\u201d<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An impressive <strong>prophetic parallel<\/strong> with what will happen to <strong>Jesus of Nazareth<\/strong> centuries later.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the sake of truth, it should be noted that part of the <strong>academic world<\/strong> believes that the prophet in this case refers not to the Messiah but to <strong>Israel<\/strong> itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While other scholars lean toward a <strong>Christian prophecy<\/strong>, emphasizing that the idea of the suffering of a man as atonement not for his own sins, but for those of others, is an <strong>absolute novelty<\/strong> in the Old Testament. So much so that it was taken up by <strong>Saint Paul<\/strong> to interpret the death of Jesus (Romans 4:25 and 2 Corinthians 5:21).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In any case, the Jews interviewed in the video <strong>immediately thought<\/strong> that the text spoke of Jesus and his suffering for humanity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Prophecies of Jesus in the Book of Isaiah?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The same happened when reading <strong>Isaiah 9:6<\/strong>, which speaks of <strong>a child who will be born<\/strong> and will be called <i>\u201cMighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace\u201d<\/i>. Even in this case, many participants immediately <strong>associated<\/strong> the passage with the New Testament and the figure of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The bitter surprise, however, comes when the <strong>true source<\/strong> of the texts is revealed: all the passages read belong to the Old Testament, centuries before the birth of Christ.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The embarrassment<\/strong> of the participants is evident, their perplexed faces say a lot, and the fact that some did not sign the <strong>release form<\/strong> to show their faces is significant of how upset they were.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some interviewees also admit that they <strong>have never read<\/strong> the New Testament and focus exclusively on the Tanakh, the Jewish Bible.
