A wave of joy after the murder, an <strong>ethical short-circuit<\/strong> that generates further violence, in a <strong>nominally<\/strong> Christian country.<\/i><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the United States, an event occurred that shook the public debate: the killing of <mark><strong>Charlie Kirk<\/strong><\/mark>, a young conservative leader.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When he was shot in the neck, he was speaking at Utah University in Orem, during an event, as always, <strong>highly attended<\/strong>, with over 3,000 young people present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we immediately <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/uccronline.it\/posts\/pfbid036TnokVh5U1pvGPighWsAPR29cxBSF8XsuSfdJ5WoC68ix6q2h8W2yDDope27JK8Al\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pointed out<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, the disturbing coincidence is that <strong>seconds before the shooting<\/strong>, Kirk was answering a question about attacks committed by <strong>transgender people<\/strong>, like the one that occurred <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/2025\/08\/28\/minneapolis-the-trans-killer-and-the-disturbing-anti-catholic-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently<\/a><\/em><\/strong> at the Catholic school in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The killer is still at large and <strong>the specific motive is unknown<\/strong>, although it is likely <strong>a hate crime<\/strong>, related to his ideas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Which <strong>do not necessarily<\/strong> need to be agreed with.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-128737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/tweet_kirk2.webp\" alt=\"charlie kirk celebrations\" width=\"562\" height=\"309\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Charlie Kirk&#8217;s Political Ideas<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Christian Evangelical, he was a tireless supporter of the <strong>pro-life movement<\/strong>, defended unborn life and the <strong>natural family<\/strong>, and criticized gender ideology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But he also held strong opinions on <strong>migration<\/strong> (believing it to be a plan orchestrated to replace native populations) and supported the right to <strong>bear arms<\/strong> (even <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/world\/north-america\/worth-it-charlie-kirks-gun-laws-claim\/news-story\/246640da7e32747905ed4111878c1f57\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claiming<\/a><\/em><\/strong> that <i>&#8220;it is acceptable to have some gun deaths every year so that we can preserve the Second Amendment&#8221;<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conservative celebrate him as <strong>a martyr<\/strong>, while his political opponents accuse him of being merely <strong>a victim of his words<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thus, the most militant conservatives <strong>hunt<\/strong> opponents on social media to insult them and highlight (violently) their violence and lack of respect, while leftist extremists (especially in the LGBTQ+ community) increase the intensity <strong>rejoicing and celebrating<\/strong> Kirk&#8217;s death.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <strong>familiar script<\/strong>, repeated regularly. Violence breeds violence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is a phenomenon that says a lot about <strong>American society<\/strong> (and beyond).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-128737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/tweet_kirk3-1.webp\" alt=\"charlie kirk celebrations\" width=\"620\" height=\"341\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Celebrations of Charlie Kirk&#8217;s Death<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is especially staggering is the wave of <strong>exultation, mockery, and sarcasm<\/strong> that spread across social networks as soon as news of his death circulated nationwide. <strong>Memes, cynical jokes, and triumphant comments<\/strong> accompanied the hours following the murder, in a climate that seems to have forgotten every sense of humanity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The last time we saw something like this, although on a smaller scale, was at the death of <strong>Pope Francis<\/strong>. This time, however, the celebrating profiles were conservative and right-wing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The United States prides itself on the official motto <strong><i>&#8220;In God We Trust&#8221;<\/i><\/strong>, politicians swear on the Bible, and everyone claims <strong>Christianity<\/strong> as a national value. Almost everyone is Christian, friends and political enemies of Kirk alike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Is it possible that evangelical values (or rather &#8220;biblical,&#8221; as they call them there), loudly proclaimed, <strong>cannot assert themselves<\/strong> at least in the moment of death? For Kirk&#8217;s supporters and, even more so, his opponents?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-128737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/charlie_kirk4.webp\" alt=\"charlie kirk celebrations\" width=\"482\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A Moral Short-Circuit<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Kirk was not Hitler<\/strong>, he was not a pedophile, he was not a monster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He was a young politician, with a wife and children, an activist loved by millions of supporters. <strong>Rejoicing in his violent death<\/strong> in the name of the suffering his ideas have or would have caused others is madness, <strong>a moral short-circuit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">How do you <strong>defuse<\/strong> the spiral of mutual hatred?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A genuine Christian and Catholic education requires that <strong>the only word<\/strong> after the death of a man, friend or enemy, is that of <strong>prayer<\/strong>. For Charlie Kirk, so that God may welcome him into His mercy, and for all of us, especially Christians, so that we learn not to be overcome by hatred.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-128737\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/charlie_kirk.webp\" alt=\"charlie kirk celebrations\" width=\"462\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is celebrating the death of conservative Charlie Kirk?
