{"id":382,"date":"2015-11-17T08:46:34","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T08:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.uccronline.it\/eng\/?p=382"},"modified":"2018-11-19T20:30:10","modified_gmt":"2018-11-19T20:30:10","slug":"herods-palace-discovered-and-new-historical-proofs-about-king-david","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uccronline.it\/eng\/2015\/11\/17\/herods-palace-discovered-and-new-historical-proofs-about-king-david\/","title":{"rendered":"Herod\u2019s palace discovered and new historical proofs about King David"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-48586\" src=\"http:\/\/new.uccronline.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Palazzo-erode.jpg\" alt=\"Palazzo erode\" width=\"194\" height=\"146\" \/>A couple of days ago <em>The Washington Post<\/em> reproposed the thesis already expounded in the book <i>The Final Days of Jesus<\/i> of 2010 by Prof. <b>Shimon Gibson<\/b>, archaeologist<b> <\/b>at the University of Carolina in Charlotte: it looks like <b>Herod\u2019s palace<\/b> has been found in the Old City of Jerusalem, where Pontius Pilate judged Jesus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is probable the <i>praetorium <\/i>has been found,\u00a0where Pontius washed his hands of Jesus&#8217;s fate, right before surrendering him to the Jewish authorities. The Gospel of John describes the place as a building located at the gate of the city, on a bumpy stone pavement, artistically called <i>Lithostrotus<\/i>. The palace found by Gibson is actually located next to the Jaffa gate and does have a bumpy pavement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a> However, reading the Gospels, it seems more accurate to see a connection between this discovery and the\u00a0<b>Antonia Fortress<\/b>, Pilate\u2019s house, situated on the north side of the Temple, now the starting point of the pilgrimages for the <i>Via Dolorosa<\/i>. Gibson \u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/middle_east\/archaeologists-find-possible-site-of-jesuss-trial-in-jerusalem\/2015\/01\/04\/6d0ce098-7f9a-45de-9639-b7922855bfdb_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow noopener\">does not agree<\/a><\/em>: \u00ab<em>Everything \u2014 archaeological, historical and gospel accounts \u2014 all falls into place and makes sense<\/em>\u00bb. Even Anglican pastor <strong>David Pileggi<\/strong>\u00a0is convinced that the discovery\u00a0inside the prison confirmed \u00ab<em>what everyone expected all along, that the trial took place near the Tower of David<\/em>\u00bb. The two theses coexist still today, both supported by a good reasons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Concerning <b>King David<\/b>, the Metropolitan Museum of Art exposed a 3000-year-old rock (from 830 BC), which would add to the evidence of the\u00a0<b>historical existence<\/b> of the Old Testament&#8217;s big protegonist (although 150 years after the historical period in which he is believed to have lived). The inscription on the rock displays evidently the reference to the\u00a0<b>nation of Judah<\/b> as <b>\u201cHouse of David\u201d<\/b>, thereby showing that David was well known in that area corresponding to today&#8217;s State of Israel. According to the experts, it is\u00a0 the most important discovery ever made in relation to the Bible.
